This was taken during our high school reunion last year in Samal Island. While we were having our dinner, a group of singers serenaded us a song and after singing, we gave them cash as a token for them. Just like during spanish colonial period wherein the guy have the guts to come to a lady’s house to sing love songs as best as he could and wait for the judgement of a lady’s parents. This was called the serenade, in the Philippines, it was called the harana. There is no portable system at that time so a young filipino would bring his guitar. This is how a young filipina lady courted before however this time, they will be courted in the lady’s house.
